Weeks 23-26

So it’s been 4 weeks since I’ve managed to post anything. I’m losing steam!

In this last month I’ve gone to Reno for 5 days for work only to immediately go to Orange County for the day again for work when I got home. Needless to say I got my 3rd cold during this pregnancy from just being worn out. I learned a lot, but there’s only so much infor this pregnant brain can handle! I have a hard time remembering basic words while talking to people and have to constantly excuse myself for my brain farts.

We’ve also gotten 1 step closer to finishing his room. I got both colors painted and then we attempted the stripes. My decorator dreams were smashed when we realized after about 5 stripes that you had to stand in certain lights to even see a difference. Oh well. That was quickly painted over and I began the daunting task of touch ups around the moldings, windows and door jams. I am really beginning to hate our textured walls and bull-nose detailing. What a pain in the ass! Next project- chair railing and crown molding in our room and his room.

We also began our birthing classes. 4 fun-filled Mondays in a row of 2.5 hour classes that will either make me feel better or freak me out completely. So far the first one was a getting to know you session with some basics thrown in. I have a feeling that Cody and I might get in trouble at some point from our giggle fits as we make fun of things. Yes we are childish, but that will help us connect with our kid better, right?

So now the third trimester is upon us and we have entered into the final countdown (insert Eurpoe song here)! In all I have gained about 5-7 lbs, depending what scale I’m on, and my belly button is about 1/4 of the way popped out. My innie is holding on for dear life!? Stairs are getting harder to climb and sleeping is getting more uncomfortable now. I have a feeling that a good night’s sleep is a distant memory.

No, I Didn’t Forget – For Dudes, Week 25

I know, I know, what happened right? Last anybody saw, Kyan was the size of a football-slash-papaya, then nothing for 3 weeks!?

Well, according to TheBump.com, he was a papaya the whole time. So let’s see, tropical fruit… 3 weeks off… Kyan was on vacation! Of course, we know that’s not true, because Sarah has had at least two “Ow!” moments where she felt a growth spurt, and also pictures don’t lie. She’ll be posting the last 2 weeks’ pictures soon.

So, welcome Eggplant, you are now about 14 inches long, and about 2.2 pounds. Your high-fives are getting much stronger. You gave me one on Sunday that I swear made the sound of a slap and was followed by Kenny Loggins’s “Danger Zone”, but I could be embellishing that this part. So in honor of your new strength, how about comparing you to part of a muscle car…

Kyan, you are now the size of a 14″ K&N Drop Base Chrome Air Cleaner, which fits all popular 4-barrel carbs. “VROOOOOM! …SKRRRRT!”

Eggplant = 4 bbl Air Cleaner

Week 21 and 22

So not much to report over the last few weeks. He is still kicking like crazy and even managed to plant himself on a nerve the other morning which caused excruciating pain and I could barely move my right leg. It kind of freaked me out a bit to the point of me debating going to the hospital. But luckily after a few minutes of laying on my left side he moved off of it and the pain was gone.

We also began prepping the room for his arrival. The crib and changing table have been bought, along with the paint. Last weekend I filled and sanded any holes in the walls, washed down all the walls, taped everything off, and finally drew a line for the chair rail. Why did I decide to do 3 colors, stripes and a chair rail? Because for some reason I like to make things hard on myself. I think the end product will be worth it, but we’ll see if I change my tune this weekend as I’m painting and trying to make straight tape lines for the stripes.

That’s all for now. I’m just going to try to enjoy these last few weeks of my 2nd trimester when you are supposed to feel your best and before the uncomfortableness of the 3rd trimester starts.

I Promise Not to Fumble

Well, yesterday the Chargers season ended while my investigations into Nate Kaeding’s gambling habits has begun. I mean seriously, 3 missed Field Goals from the most accurate kicker in the NFL on a dry, windless day!? The blank stare and complete lack of emotion is a giveaway. “Big Game Nate”? Yeah right!

Just crossing my fingers for a New Orleans v. Indianapolis Super Bowl now, in which New Orleans wins.

Coincidentally, Kyan is now the size of a papaya, which is roughly 10.5 to 11.8 inches. Also the length of your regulation NFL football – just like the ones Nate Kaeding shanked.

Papaya = Regulation NFL Football

Lastly…. suck it Nate!

Update – 3/29/2010: Just looked back at this post 3 months later and saw that I predicted the outcome of the Super Bowl. Anybody take that to Vegas?

Is That a Banana In Your Shirt Or…

OMGWTFBBQ! (I just learned that)

From 6.5″ cantaloupe to 10.5″ banana in just a week!? Did The Bump.com get their fruits crossed up? Although, last night Sarah felt taps in two places so far apart that it makes me think Kyan has the wingspan of a baby pterodactyl.

Or at least the toy version… So here’s this week’s For Dudes and Carnivores post. This toy pterodactyl has a 26cm wingspan, which is pretty darn close to the size of aforementioned banana. Look closely Sarah. This could be in your belly! “Skreeeeeee!”

Banana = Toy Pterodactyl

Btw, in searching for a picture of a baby pterodactyl, I ran across the Urban Dictionary definition. Pretty funny. Check it out!
