Masterpiece Theater Was So Futuristic
So back in 2006 we moved into an apartment with super old wiring, and the first time a hair dryer and the microwave were running at the same time, our TV blew up. Literally. There was a loud “pop” and it was gone.
Contrary to what you might think, this web developing gadget geek does not know everything about TVs. And that fact became evident after our excursion to Best Buy, as we grabbed a new 37″ plasma flat screen, and entered the HD world. Or so we thought.
We found ourselves back at Best Buy last weekend. See, we are getting a Christmas tree (not from Best Buy – from Sarah’s parents), and we want it in the picture window in the living room. But that’s where the couch is, which faces the TV on the opposite wall. We’ve always wanted to put the TV over the fireplace mantel, but the plasma won’t fit because the stand is too wide and it’s too heavy to mount.
Long story short, and a 55″ LED LCD later, NOW we have REAL HD. It’s amazing! The people are so real, and the motion is so smooth that it seems like you’re at a play – OR watching the old Masterpiece Theater shows on PBS. Who knew PBS was the ideal we were all looking for!?

I spent the first 2 years with the HD settings on my 52″ plasma screen inactive… got the HD Cable box from Comcast this summer and boom! My picture dramatically improved, the definition is astounding. I watch a football game now as if I’m looking out the window of the luxury boxes in the stands. Its uber-impressive

I just watched the end of the 30 year old Empire Strikes Back in HD tonight, and even that was incredible! You can see eyes inside Vader’s helmet!
